About us

About Made Simple

We make illustrated study guides for licensing exams. One idea per page, one drawing per idea, so you remember it on exam day.

Each guide follows the exam's published outline. Each page explains one thing in plain English and shows it in a simple drawing. Where people often mix two terms up, the page says so.

Grantor and grantee: the grantor gives the deed, the grantee receives it DEED Grantor gives Grantee receives
A near-twin pair, settled with one drawing

What we make

Study guides you can see

Illustrated study guides for licensing exams, sized for a phone. Every page has the same simple shape.

One idea per page

Each page teaches a single idea. You can finish one while you wait for the bus.

One drawing per idea

A clear, flat drawing with real text labels. You see how the idea works, not just what it is called.

Built on the outline

Every page is tagged to the exam's published outline, so you know where it fits.

Made for the mix-ups

Exam Traps point out the look-alikes. Memory Hooks appear where a real one exists.

Why we do it this way

Most mistakes are mix-ups

Most exam mistakes are not things you never learned. They are near-twin terms you mix up under time pressure. Grantor or grantee. Catagen or telogen. Eponychium or hyponychium.

You probably read both definitions in your textbook. On test day, with the clock running, they blur together. A picture fixes that faster than another paragraph. Once you have seen the deed move from one person to the other, you don't have to stop and think about which word is which.

Who it's for

People who study in the gaps

Our readers study in short gaps between work, class and family. Often on a phone. Often in a second language. So we keep the English plain and the pages short.

Finishing a program

You have done the hours in beauty school. Now you need the theory to stick before the state board exam.

Changing careers

You are moving into real estate or insurance. The terms are new, and many of them sound alike.

Working professionals

You already have a full-time job. You need something you can open for ten minutes at lunch.

What we're not

Made to work alongside your course

  • Not a course
  • Not a question bank
  • Not a textbook

Your school, course or textbook teaches the full subject. That is their job. Made Simple helps the hardest parts stay in your head: the look-alike terms, the processes with many steps, the ideas that are easier to see than to read.

Keep your textbook. Use Made Simple to make it stick.

Independence

Honest and independent

Made Simple is not affiliated with any state licensing board, testing vendor or professional body. Nobody pays us to say what we say. We build each guide from the published outline and the primary sources behind it, and we tell you where the facts come from.

We never promise a passing score, and we never call a guide "official". How we make our guides and our editorial standards explain the details.

Made Simple guides are independent study aids. No guide can guarantee a passing score.
